yea, totally!

been lying in bed 2 days in a row and its a dreadful feeling ... i'd rather be at work actually ... and resume life as per normal ...

had to postpone my first tennis lesson, cancel dinner with some new found friends, put-off a business meeting ... just throws my organized timetable in disarray ... which i totally hate ... i like things to proceed as planned ... hate last minute hiccups ...

my head is still spinning, throat parched like a desert, tastebuds gone awry, all i feel like doing is sleep ... u get the drift ... i wanna gorge on potato chips & eat fried stuff ... but i can't! for the sake of a speedy recovery, i'm gonna swear off soft drinks, spicy foods and alcohol (except beer? aw c'mon, gimme a break! hahahaha) for now ...

spent the day doing housework (laundry + cleaning my room), surfing the net and getting updates on celebrity gossip ... yea, i know, how bimbo ... but my brain can't fully function right now ... also checked out some blogs ...

i'm kinda dreading going back to work tomorrow and looking forward to it at the same time ... dreading the pile on my desk ... and looking forward to seeing the peeps again :)

oh well, its time to get back in the swing of things ... and i'll just have wade through the pile ... somehow ...

the cure

i'm trying to recover from my flu/fever predicament asap ...

heard that in Hong Kong, a quick remedy for a cold is to drink boiled coca-cola + ginger + lemon ... apparently this recipe is available at most HK char-chan-thengs ... a lil search on the internet threw up this interesting website on the many uses of coke ... yea, you may have heard of it before ... but here it is anyway .... crazy uses for coca-cola

so off i went to buy cans of coke (the original) and a lemon fruit ... wasn't sure about the ginger part, so i guess my remedy would a half-baked one which would yield half-baked results ... oh well ... better than nothing ...

microwaved the coke with slices of lemon ... my concoction turned out to be quite yummy actually ... tasted a lil like hot lemon tea with fizz .... and looked a lil like bourbon coke ... uh huh ... it awoke the alcoholic in me ... hahahaha ... nah, just kidding ... not a fan of bourbon ...

if anyone has tried this 'cure' (as in the real thing, not my half-baked one) before, lemme know ... i'd be interested to know!

oh man, everything was going well until after lunch time ... its amazing how fast the virus spreads ...

my ney-bur was sniffing away all morning ... and before you know it, i started sniffing right after lunch ... damnit! can't afford to fall sick this week cos there is tons to do + tennis as well ... argh!!!!!

to make it worse ... i had no time to see the company doc ... and the doc near my place is closed ... looks like i have to make my way down to work tmw still and get a MC ... a legit one ...

more food this weekend ... Italian this time ... at Casa Roma off 6th Avenue ...

relaxed, warm and cosy atmosphere, casual dining, good quality food (excellent seafood pasta + great pizzas, except that the desserts could do with a lot more improvement), great service ... more affordable than Valentino ... not bad!

watched X-men 3 at the new Picturehouse ... impressive! the cinema that is ... very plush settings, comfy seats and excellent sound system ... movie was good too ... lots of unexpected character demises ... there will definitely be another sequel ...

very long day ...

business meeting + house model .... well, not exactly a model model ... my measurements got taken for a line of new clothing ... did it as a favour and gives me incentive to buy the new range of clothing when it next launches ... since it should fit perfectly :)

Great Singapore Sale has started! town was absolutely crowded ... did not buy anything at all ... too darn nerve-wrecking ...

headed to Haji Lane to check out the night life/scene ... very idyllic, quaint and funky ... dinner at an egyptian/turkish restaurant ... food was quite a let down ... somehow the turkish meats are always very tough ... ended off with a round of apple-mint shee-shah ... yea! again! kinda fun ... seeing wilson + kay smoke for the first time .... hahaha

headed to New Asia Bar thereafter for a night of partying ... bluffed the batender that it was sylvia's bee-day and she got a free waterfall on the house ... new trick to try out!

FINALLY! signed up for tennis lessons ... starts next Thursday! break a leg? i hope not ...

monday blues? nah its a monday BASH!

woo hoo! took half-day leave today ... could have feigned an MC ... but nah ... i'll be good for a change .... aww ... *applause* *applause*

the whole gang set off for a game of bad-dee at Cairnhill CC ... worked up a good sweat ... haven't played in ages ... the last time was on the roadside, outside yiwan's house on new year's eve ... really reminded me of my secondary school days where it was such a relish to perspire for a good game ... i need to exercise more ... arms and legs are aching slightly now ...

quenched for thirst ... lee & i so needed a hoegaarden ... headed to Corduroy & Finch for a swig + dessert since it was too early for dinner ... felt so shiok ... hanging around 6th Avenue on a monday late noon ... i could so live this lifestyle ...

j-mee's bee-day today ... but he didn't turn up for work ... deliberately didn't inform the gang ... oh man! i brought my cam-mee for nuthin' ....

left office early for a change ... dinner at Blue Ginger restaurant at Tanjong Pagar ... for some good ol' peranakan food ... ordered the set dinner ... too much food ... quality was alright ... great value though ... thanks to the UOB credit card 1 for 1 promo ...

laptop is back! whoopee!!!!!

spent a good couple of hours reinstalling all my programs ... and i'm back in business ...

belated bee-day celebration for j-mee ... short and sweet ... since we left office early to catch the free screening of The Da Vinci Code ... thanks to the firm ...

all suffered from painful butts, crooked necks and aching backs cos we sat at the 3rd row from the front ... since it was free seating, the kiasu ones arrived much earlier than us ... bummer ...

movie was ok ... for those who have read the book ... i'm sure the book was better ... to me at least ...

sunshine .... looking forward to collecting my laptop this afternoon ... the past 2 nights were spent in bed curled up with a book instead of staring googled-eye at the computer screen ... actually it was quite a welcome change ... but i still miss my lappee!

sigh .... another resignation from my team yesterday ... gosh, my team is dwindling! but that doesn't speed up the climb up the ladder does it?

frustrated ... with the new assistants ... things can't get done fast enough ... my status is reflecting pretty badly ... getting prepared for another round of firing at this Friday's team meeting ...

unreasonable ... forcing me to clear my outstanding leave and to plan my leave schedule ... sorry no mood for that right now ... thanks for imposing yet another deadline for me ...

lappee is down

second time in 6 freakin' months ... my laptop is down again ...

apparently, its the same ol' hard disk problem ... gawd, its so frustrating and tiring having to reinstall all the programs again ... time after time ... very painful and traumatic experience ... i'm very attached to my laptop ... dunno what i'd do without it ... its like my life story in there ...

looks like i have to go into cold turkey again this week ... feel totally lost without my broadband connection ... disconnected with the www (whole wide world) ...

hope they get it fixed for good this time + i'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will extend my warranty for another year ... they'd better ... i'm pissed enough already

dinner at Riciotti at Riverwalk ... food was so-so (my squid ink pasta was a let-down), but dessert as always was good ... stuck to my all time favourite creme brulee ..

headed down to East Side at Mohd Sultan Road for Jem's downing of martinis session (aka bee-day celebration) ... while waiting for mitz to arrive, we played the brit version of the finger guessing game (jay-dee's contribution) ... more organized, more fun! succeeded in getting tee + me high ... 2 of us slept through half the celebrations ...

then came jem's toasting ... he downed one martini after another ... and before you know it .. he was quite gone ... erm, yea mission accomplished a lil too early ... since we were supposed to head to MoS for a second round :)

was too tired to head to MoS, so jem + i went back first while the rest adjourned for their lancing session ...

stumbled into bed ... all bushed ...

managed to catch a good 40 winks .... joined stace for tea at PS cafe at Paragon ... had the ceasar salad which was okay ... could do with less salty meat ...

went home and found wilson online ... suggested heading down to MoS since he hadn't been there yet ... rounded up a few others (keith, wenhui, yisheng) and we had a party of five! woo hoo!

wasn't intending to drink much after last night ... turned out that i had more to drink instead! met a few of wilson's friends at MoS and the drinks were never ending ... keith was the first to go down ... played the finger guessing game with yen (the MASTER) and within the hour, he was sputtering nonsense (like declaring his salary ... good gawd!), hugging everyone and what not ... hahaha ... needless to say he went back earlier than the rest ...

the party continued until the wee hours of 5am + when half of us headed for supper ...

woke up with a splitting headache + lack of sleep a couple of hours later ... and the rest is history ...

had to miss the mother's day dinner with mum, grandma + relatives .... oops! sorry mum!

freaky frog!

i ate a part of a frog today ... argh!!!! yuck!!!!!

just so you know ... i have never ever eaten a frog before .... nope, i haven't even touched frog legs ... unless i have been duped on previous occasions ... but as far as i am concerned, my record is clean ... until ... today!!!

had a business dinner at Soup Restaurant this evening and all went well until dessert time ... the client asked if we wanted the dessert hot or cold ... saying that its a jelly-like dish, good for cleansing the internal body system, etc... without knowing what it was, i went for the cold version ...

the dessert arrived and i tucked in happily ... thinking that it was ching tng ... gourmet style ... it tasted nice and it was going well ... until the revelation ... frog's brain or frog's membrane (i forgot ... lets just stop at the word frog) ... i almost flipped!!!

out of courtesy, i finished the bowl ... all the while imagining it to be premium grade ching tng ... although there were times when the floating bits really bore close resemblance to what a brain would look like ...

good gawd ... no more freaky frogs for me ...

finally got the GEMS vouchers today ... from the firm as a reward for Going the Extra Mile ... ya right ... the whole department also got it too ... oh well, better than nothing ... an additional $100 to spend!

the rationale behind the "recognition" ? my guess would be to curb the number of staff resigning ... and to placate us whiners ...

just to update ... no resignations thus far ... as the bonus is due in June/July ... so the number of towel throwers is set to increase after the payout ...

First time voting at Singapore's General Election ...

Braved the rain to rush down to Anderson Primary School to cast my vote ... on the way there, it felt alarmingly quiet for a Saturday morning ... with the gloomy sky and heavy downpour, seemed like everyone was staying indoors ... i was very impressed at the way things were organized at the voting centre ... with my makeshift poll card (i lost it remember?) and vote casted, everything was over and done with in less than 10mins ... i daresay 5 mins flat! excellent! just hate to waste time ...

Trotted down to City Hall for the FashBash set-up with Van ... unfortunately, my other half was terribly late which delayed the set-up ... bummer!

Lush music in the background ... muted lighting ... it was a nice atmosphere ... it is by far the nicest bazaar that we have attended so far :)

The crowd came and went ... at times there were just throngs of customers ... luckily the polls didn't stop the fashion pack from coming ... also met some old friends who happened to pop by ...

Tired legs (6 hours of standing!) save for a few moments on the potty ... hungry tummy cos there was no time for lunch ... it was all worth it ... sales were robust :)

Of course i shopped! A funky cheongsam top from Tan Tan (a new upcoming local designer) + a tube top ... couldn't resist!

Ended the day with a swig of Hoegaarden *hic*

Adeline's last day was today ... sob!

there goes my extra pair of hands ... i admit ...i have been very reliant on her ... entrusting her with many tasks so that i can manage my time better ... yea, i'm checking into rehab (i.e. doing most things on my own again) ... i have gone into cold turkey ... just hours before her departure, i found myself picking up the loose pieces ... feeling lost ... sigh ...

have to work on training up another assistant now ... sian ...

exchanged presents ... i got her a BI necklace ... she got me 4 bottles of Hoegaarden beer (yay! my fav!) ... oh man, i was thrilled! i'm beginning to suspect that my reputation as an alcoholic is spreading like wildfire ... *hic* ... today must have felt like X'mas for Ade ... the team managers also gave her a present ... so did the rest of the Vacation Trainees ... lucky gal ...

oh well, i'll miss the familiarity and having someone reliable to count on ... kudos to Ade! anyhow, its time to move on :)

with the peeps ... to Batam

1st holiday of the year for all of us ... a well-deserved break ...

the good :

put up at the Harris Hotel ... decent place except for the occasional blackout and water outage ... swimming pool was huge ... very good proximity to nearby amenities ... go-karting was just 3 minutes away by car, bowling lanes on site, jet-skiing, kayaking, para-sailing just a stones throw away ... we did all of the above ... awesome!!!

the bad :

the spa was a complete let down ... lee & tee kena-ed a masseuse who fell asleep halfway ... j-mee got a big momma who squeezed the life out of him ... water supply that got cut off while we were trying to shower ... as a result we had to do away with the milk bath ... my Cleopatra moment just dissipated ...

no beach!!!!! argh!!!!!

far-nee moments ... bee at the massage palour when we were out in town ... got a slap on his buns while chatting up his masseuse ... naughty naughty ... jem + @lloy spa-ing together ...

sca-ree moments ... tee & me almost got thrown off the jet ski when the engine failed ... i was clinging on to the steering wheel while tee was clinging on to me for dear life ... *shudder*

drunken moments ... damnit, that didn't happen ... left with 2/3 bottle of Absolut, 1/2 bottle of Malibu and an unopened bottle of wine ...

slee-pee moments ... hibernated in the hotel room on Sunday due to the rain ... sleepy heads on the ferry ride on the way home ... sleepy me on the way to and from town Nagoya ...
