stuffed

yea, that sums up how i feel right now ...

this is gonna be yet another food blog ... damnit ... with all the good i have been having recently, my waistline is expanding ... arms are getting fatter ... argh!!!

Tea Bone Zen Mind

skipped lunch to have tea with Jas + Pat at Tea Bone Zen Mind ... located at Seah Street, this place was recommended by SY ... apparently, this place is a favourite haunt for those on a rendezvous ... because of its unnoticeable locale + the opening hours are only until 7pm + the place is soooo pretty! perfect for an afternoon tete-a-tete :)

i was pretty much famished when we met so i ordered a cucumber sandwich ... yea, i know it sounds like a boring choice ... but its the house specialty ... and trust me, it was gooooodd!!! its by far the best sandwich i have EVER tasted ... ok, to be more specific ... the best vegetarian sandwich i have EVER tasted (best so far is Morton's by a carnivore's standards) ... consisting of ultra-thin cucumber slices + ground pepper + sea salt + spices ... oh man, it was tasty-licious ...

for drinks i had the French Rose floral tea ... Jas had the Oolong tea ... Pat had coffee (wrong choice on that one) ... and all came with excellent presentation :)

TBZM places a lot of emphasis on aesthetics ... with details playing an important role ... from the pretty lace curtains + simple yet quaint decor ... even little things like milk (for the coffee) gets heated up when it is served ... even the pineapple tarts were served warm ... this is something which i have not come across any where else ...

PeraMakan

next stop at Joo Chiat ... for wholesome + authentic home-cooked style peranakan food ... with a no-MSG philosophy ... the owner Kelvin went as far to say that if we could find any trace of MSG in the kitchen ... the meal was on the house ... so if you're gonna head there ... i suggest that you sneak in a bottle of MSG with you ... hee :)

had to have my usual Buah Keluak + Bakwan Kepiting which were both good ... Pat recommended the Beef Rendang + Ngoh Hiang which were superb as well ... for dessert, the Kaya Apom was quite an interesting choice ...

Sunset Grill & Pub

opened by the former owner of Jerry's BBQ + Buckaroo ... Sunset Grill is Jerry's latest venture ... found in yet another far flung location ...

at the Singapore Flying Club (Seletar Airbase, East Camp) ... this place is damn ulu ... totally inaccessible ... we got a lil lost trying to find the place which was kinda eerie at night with the light rain ... circled the estate at Seletar several times until we finally found the place ...

since we had no room for any more food after dinner ... we stayed for drinks instead ... but made it a point to return for dinner one of these days ... have to try the infamous "Level 1 to Level 10" spicy buffalo wings (remember the ones at Buckaroo?) and to soak in the idyllic atmosphere ...

maybe it wasn't opened when you were there ...

the restaurant is facing the 'runway' ... can actually see planes taking off ...

in that sense, its not entirely visible from the road ... need to get down on foot and walk a little
